Henry Ford Bridge is a steel truss bascule bridge in the Los Angeles Harbor linking Terminal Island to the mainland. It was named in honor of automobile manufacturer Henry Ford, who built a factory in the area in the 1920s. The bridge was completed in 1927 and was originally known as the Commodore Heim Bridge. It was renamed to honor Henry Ford in 1956. The bridge spans the Cerritos Channel and measures 1,500 feet in length. It is a major transportation route for trucks and goods moving in and out of the Port of Los Angeles. The bridge is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles and underwent a major renovation from 2004-2013.
